So, What Even Is Nutrition?

Nutrition is all the food and nourishment that we need in order to live healthy and grow stronger! Think about everything you ate today. Maybe you ate some fruit for breakfast this morning? That fruit gave you energy and nutrients that your body needs in order to function well! To skip to the informational section of this website, click the button below.

But, Why Is Nutrition Important?

Having a nutritional, well-balanced diet can reduce the risk of many diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, as well as stroke. In addition, good nutrition can increase your energy levels and boost your immune system, so you can play more and get sick less!

Cook at home!

Preparing healthy foods at home (with the help of an adult) can help you learn a lot about how your foods are made and what goes into them! You can have a hands-on experience with food, and when you're done, you can eat your delicious creations! Make sure to take a look at the ingredients and determine for yourself if they are healthy or not, and what nutrients those ingredients provide. Click the button below for some of my favorite healthy recipes! On this website you'll find easy, kid-friendly recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - as well as snacks and desserts! Best of all, these recipes are all healthy and nutritional! Happy cooking!

Start a food journal!

A great way to track your daily nutrition is by keeping a food journal. All you have to do is record what you eat every day in a notebook, or you can also click on the button below and print out the food diary chart, which makes it easier to organize what you ate for every meal. At the end of the day, think back on how you felt that day. Were you nauseous? Did you feel bloated? Or did you feel like you had more energy than usual? Over time, you can figure out which foods make you feel good, and which foods might not. Keeping a food journal is also a great way to see if you're eating healthy and getting all your daily nutritional needs in!

Visit the supermarket!

What better way to learn about nutrition than in a place where you'll be surrounded by food? The next time an adult in your house says they're going to the supermarket, ask to tag along! While you're there, make sure to take note of all the foods available, especially the nutritious ones! You can also help out by asking an adult what they need to buy and tracking it in a grocery list. Click the button below for a grocery list template! After paying close attention at the supermarket, you'll have a better idea of what foods and nutrients are going into your stomach!

Plant a garden!

Gardening is a great way to expand your knowledge of nutrition! Not only is it a fun experience that you can share with family, but you also get to grow delicious and fresh foods right in your own backyard! Whether you choose to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, or anything else, gardening gives you the chance to see where fresh, nutritious food comes from. Click the button down below to find growing guides for easy-to-grow fruits, vegetables, and other plants! These growing guides provide step by step instructions on how to plant, care for, and harvest your garden, along with other tips and facts to help your garden succeed! Happy planting!

Learn how to read a nutrition label!

Want to know more about the nutrition in the foods you eat? That's a whole lot easier than it sounds, thanks to the Nutrition Facts label! Next time you eat a bag of chips, a slice of bread, or any other packaged food, look on the package to find the box labeled Nutrition Facts (usually found on the back of the package). Click on the button below to learn how to read this label. With this knowledge handy, you'll be able to decode the nutrition within any food you eat!
